The Holy Spirit Brings Joy

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. —Romans 14:17

Joy is not a happiness that comes from outside things—like a pay raise, a new job, vindication, a letter with good news, or receiving a coveted invitation. It is the Spirit's own witness, indeed the person of the Holy Spirit Himself, coming right inside of you that brings joy. This is why it is called immediate and direct. Joy comes from within. With syllogistic reasoning the Holy Spirit applies the word; we use our minds to apply what we have heard and are thus able safely to conclude that we are going to heaven. But our minds applied the word and then it touched the heart. But this rest of soul—the result of the immediate and direct witness of the Spirit—comes without any reasoning, applying, thinking, deducting, or reflecting. It is the Spirit overruling our minds and going directly to the heart—straight from heaven to the soul. It is an act of God, sovereignly bestowed, and there is not one thing you can do to make it happen. And yet Jesus tells us it is what the Father delights to do for those who ask Him.

One further fruit of this is how the Bible comes alive—you know more than ever that the Bible is the very Word of God. I do not believe one needs the baptism of the Spirit to believe that the Bible is the Word of God, but I am certainly saying that it enables you to believe it more than ever! All of it! You know you have not been deceived. You see clearly and without doubt that Christianity is true, the Christian faith is real, and Jesus is real. His resurrection is real.

Joy is knowing you've got it right, not because of how much you have read or how much teaching you have received, but by the presence of the Holy Spirit in power. Nothing at all compares with this.

Amen.
That is why people who are really in Christ are always joyful.No matter circumstances.We can be sad because of some bad thing is happening or burdened because we may surface sometimes many problems but from you is always rising a joy.That joy is your background.And people shall always say that you are joyful person.Christians are recognized as people with merry hearts.

What I faced all my life .how people who do not have His spirit are trying to put you down.They worry all the time.Even for some small,unimportant things.Joy is rising life ,be down is reducing and killing life.I got this problem.When I was ill and joyful,some doctors told me ,nothing is wrong,you are in good mood.When I had some physical pain my folks said it is not that something hurt you otherwise you should not been in good mood.They wanted for me to be in illness and down.In bad mood.It is so strange how this world function.You may have objective problems and you plus must be in bad mood that everybody may be satisfied.:-)) The joy of Holy Spirit is always to lift up people.Above all the circumstances and to help them to overcome bad circumstances.I said to these people ,i really can not understand you,you have problems and you are capable to be depressive and angry,sad,whatever.To be in negative feelings.It is for me unbearable to live that way.

Yes Miriana! There's just this fulfilling feeling of joy that lifts you up, even in the midst of troubles..its like God is saying 'I got this love!' How lovely of Him!! :D

Amen, this unspeakable joy is God's gift to me last new year, January 1,2012 at 12:00am, because we waited for the new year devoting ourselves into prayer, And God, somewhere from within that unexplained joy just burst out.

ANd that same joy remains inside of me despite the things that are going on around me that supposed to have discouraged me a lot.

I thank God for that exceeding joy, just when I though there is no more hope, just when I thought I'd be broken forever, just when I thought I was good for nothing, there HE is.

Like what He said in Isaiah62,
He turns our mourning in to dancing, our sorrows in to joy, from ashes to beauty, from shame to double honor.

LET US NOT DOUBT THE POWER OF GOD,
HIS WORD is our 100% assurance that HE can and will do it// GOD LOVES US ALL <3

All know of all truth intellectually but for many it is very hard to take into their spirit as JESUS need them .this is the trouble we see people struggling to get into the right lane where God wants them to be!!!

Let me share one example ,about what Molly wrote.When we praise God,when we are in the intimate prayer from heart to Him,Holy Spirit comes upon us and we are joyful.
Let see another situation,you are doing your job,you are working good,hard,from heart and you are tired because that is a job with lot of effort.Than suddenly someone comes after you and start to complain that you are doing little,that is not good,not because it is true but because that person is envy,aggressive,restless,and constantly provoke
you..And is not in faith of course.After some time you are bothered because when something bad is repeated it start to hurt you.If you are able to not react do not matter how hard is and stay humble and pray in yourself and let that ,although is hard to hear ,if you overcome that you shall feel the same joy after you succeed that,feeling of victory and strength.And Holy Spirit will come upon you.That is staying in line as Molly said.Staying in your godly line in everything.This is to live through God´s will for Christians.
If you react and give back the answer ,do not matter how reasonable it is, since that person is with spiritual problems, it can only hurt you.Hurt others and bring more problems and fights.To stay humble and in praying is always answer but it takes a discipline and self denial.It is hard to stay in line but is always victorious.This is a small example,it can be much harder situations but that is the way .Not our natural response,not to depend on our hurt or ask for justice but in humility on God.That gives a joy in hard situation too.You shall know when you did good,because after ,the peace and anointing is coming upon you.And through that we change others.Is it demanding,of course since our carnal being is sreaming against,wants rights and honor,but we need to die for that.We died to that on Jesus Cross.And Lord´s peace,humility and love in us break the power of evil in others.Intellectual understanding of faith is something else but live by faith in practice is different.

Oh my gosh Miriana!! I'm in that situation! There's a girl in my class who's really clever actually, but boasts about her cleverness indirectly. 2 days ago she was slightly rude to me in a way, and it was kinda about her being clever and she indirectly implied that I wasn't as clever (or something of that sort). I didn't insult her, but I gave her a really bad look and made her look stupid. So when I read what you wrote above, it was kinda related to this..its SO hard to shut up and to have self-denial when things like these happen, because you don't want to be taken for granted..but I guess as children of God, this is something we have to really sacrifice.. May God help us! Thank you very much for that!

thanks for this encouragement, its a gud thing to be grounded in the lord not in the worldly pleasures
